Russian Sniper Manual is an e-book translation of a Russian publication that has been
edited and enhanced with more in-depth information. In an attempt to retain as much of
the flavor of the original manuscript,
Russian Sniper Manual includes some of the
original terminology and awkwardness of communication, which impedes
Russian military
thought.
Russian Sniper Manual is an edited e-book that provides excellent proof that
Russian snipers are not better trained than snipers of other nations. However,
Russian snipers have an edge because they attempt to get close to their targets, which
requires more courage. In addition, they do not emphasize or extol super long-range
sniping, which obsesses western militaries. The Russian armed forces also retain that
edge of ruthless indifference to rules of war and collateral damage. This ruthlessness is
the mark of success in modern war.
Russian Sniper Manual provides the Russian
military view of sniper training
while affording the reader insight into the Russian
military psyche.
Review Table of Contents
"The Russians and Soviets wanted to score the maximal sniper kills. So they refused to extol long range sniping as the
epitome of sniperism. Instead, their emphasis upon kills at any range, predicated short range shooting, and why not?
Since most sniper kills are at 100 to 400 meters, only foolish bureaucrats and grand standers continue to promote the
occasional kill at a kilometer or more.  War is not an Olympic sport complete with “fair rule”, wars are fought to be won.
Most Russian/Soviet sniper engagements therefore took place within 400 meters in rural fights, and 100 meters in city
fighting. To emphasize those killing ranges, Soviet snipers were taught how to infiltrate close enough to kill. That
infiltration to kill is the essence of stalking and camouflage."
